Skilled Professionals
Dr. Bao Phan has the proper education, training and experience to give you the stunning results you want from plastic surgery in Hawaii. They are both certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties and state medical boards. With so many different options available today, it may be confusing and difficult to make the right choice. Obtaining board certification in plastic surgery is a stringent and highly competetive process that requires a surgeon to have successfully completed approved surgical training programs, practice with the highest safety and ethical standards, have comprehensive real world experience in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery and pass comprehensive written and oral examinations. Choosing your doctor is a serious and important decision. Your health is serious business. You only have one face and body. Why would you not want to choose a properly trained specialist?
Uncompromising Commitment to Safety
We realize that safety is of the utmost importance to you, which is why our practice makes it a top priority. Where your surgical procedure is actually performed is also one of the most important decisions in your decision process. Because many cosmetic surgical procedures are performed by many physicians in their offices, it is important to know that the facility is a safe and clean environment and meets industry safety standards. Our in- office operating facility on Oahu is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF), the gold standard in accreditation that is granted only after meeting industry leading safety and surgical quality requirements.
Improved Anesthesia
At our practice, most procedures are performed with the patient under “Total IV Anesthesia” (TIVA). This form of sedation and pain control is further customized for our patients through our use of local anesthesia. This “preemptive” anesthesia reduces pain both during and after the procedure by blocking pain signals before surgery starts.
This approach has many advantages over other anesthesia techniques. It offers a potential reduction in blood clots in the legs, decreased incidence of post-operative nausea and vomiting, and quicker recovery. It usually avoids the necessity to paralyze a patient and, rather than placing a tube down the trachea (which can cause a sore throat), patients are able to breathe more naturally on their own. After TIVA, patients find that they don’t have the lingering “hangover” encountered with other forms of anesthesia. In short, with this method of anesthesia, our patients return to their normal activities more quickly and comfortably.
Another way that our practice does not cut corners on safety and quality: we care enough about you to hire well- trained and experienced board- certified anesthesia professionals to administer your anesthesia. We feel that this service should not be made optional should you require anesthesia or that you should be deprived of it as this is vitally important for your safety and comfort.
