I recently had my 14-year-old saline implants removed (explant) along with fat transfer using fat taken from my thighs, muffin tops, abdomen, and the areas beside my knees. After wanting a more natural look for a long time, I finally decided to move forward with surgery, and I couldn’t be happier that I did.
From my very first consultation with Dr. Phan at Hawaii Plastic Surgery Institute, I felt completely comfortable and cared for. He was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, thorough, and precise. He took the time to really understand what I was looking for and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. You could tell right away that he has an incredible amount of knowledge and experience, and I never felt rushed or like any of my questions were unimportant.
I was also a little nervous about going under anesthesia, but Dr. Phan and his entire team made me feel so reassured. I had TIVA anesthesia, which is the type of anesthesia used by Dr. Bao Phan and his team. Dr. Phan, Erin, Holly (his anesthesia nurse), and his surgical assistant were all absolutely amazing. Everyone was so caring, attentive, and professional throughout the entire experience, and they made the process feel like a breeze.
I’m only four days post-op as I’m writing this, but so far my recovery has been much easier than I expected. When I woke up from anesthesia, I felt happy, alert, and comfortable. I was able to talk and understand what was going on, and I had very little discomfort. I made it home safely, slept well from the first night, and have just made a few adjustments like using extra pillows and keeping my head and feet elevated.
The first three days I had some soreness, but each day has gotten noticeably better. My bruising has been minimal, and the pain has been very manageable. I only needed pain medication for the first two days and was able to gradually stop taking it. Even from day one, my incisions looked so small, clean, and beautifully done, and they stayed together really well. The compression garment provided by the office has also been surprisingly comfortable.
One thing that really stood out to me was how much of an artist Dr. Phan is. Even before surgery, watching him mark my body was impressive. Everything was measured and lined up so carefully and precisely to create balance and symmetry. It honestly looked like artwork.
And the results so far? I’m amazed. I feel like I finally have the body I’ve been working toward for years. I had gained about 10–15 pounds that I just couldn’t seem to get rid of, even with years of going to the gym. The fat transfer has given me a slimmer, more contoured shape, and my breasts look full, natural, and exactly what I was hoping for. I had lost most of my breast tissue over time and was flat as a board and Dr Phan gave me full natural looking breasts that look much better than my implants before using my own fat from areas i couldn’t seem to get rid of. I was expecting to only achieve one cup size but I’m about the same size I was with implants in. I know there will be some reduction in fat overtime as the body adjusts but the shape looks so amazing that they are going to look incredible as they continue to heal. I’m honestly still in shock when I look at myself.I know I’m only four days post-op and that my final results will continue to develop as I heal, but even at this early stage, I can already say that this was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
I’m so grateful to Dr. Phan and his entire team for making what I was initially nervous about such a smooth, comfortable, and positive experience. If you’re considering plastic surgery and want someone who is caring, extremely thorough, precise, and truly passionate about what he does, I highly recommend Dr. Phan. I’m so happy I chose him and his team, and I’m excited to see my final results as I continue to heal! I really didn’t realize how smoothly it could all go and how little of time off i would need. Dr. Phan made a procedure that can sometimes feel extensive feel like a breeze.
